Green Campaign Returns Merseyrail to Public Ownership

The plan to return Merseyrail to public ownership has finally been approved by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Over a year ago, the Greens supported the call of three transport trade unions.

Cllr Jo Bird proposed a motion at Wirral Council in July 2025. Responding to passengers, Greens from the Wirral, Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and Ellesmere Port campaigned and moved successful motions gaining cross party support. We all agree - public ownership is better for people.
