I come from a long tradition of Jewish socialists, passionate about equality, justice and fighting all forms of racism. My grandads fought fascism in Europe as soldiers in the British army.
I grew up in Birkenhead, going to Woodchurch high school. Since 1990, I’ve lived and worked with democratic co-operative businesses in Manchester, Merseyside, Israel~Palestine and Northern Ireland.
Socialist values were always part of my life, whether supporting striking miners or workers at Cammell Laird or in election campaigns. Experiences like these were my formative influences, as well as knowing that I owed my life and freedom to people who fought for justice. My Jewish great grandparents left Eastern Europe to escape persecution.
I am an active campaigner with Unite, BFAWU and other trade unions against poverty and exploitation.
On Wirral I’ve led campaigns to re-open an NHS Walk-In Centre; mobilised dozens of supporters for my local election campaign; brought a thousand people onto the streets to mark the second anniversary of New Ferry gas explosion disaster, secured justice for all victims. and proposed balanced Council budgets without cuts to frontline services.
